In each case, the Scaling Wizard scales the model size, mass, propulsion system, aerophysics, etc. Everything is automatic, but you can selectively override the auto-scaling and change the airplane weight, motor, propeller, etc to your specifications to match a known model or create an entirely new airplane. No limits on speed or size!

  2. How many flying locations are included?

With FS One, you get 25 panorama flying sites and 5 3D sites to choose from. You can enhance the 3D sites with 40 different photorealistic skyscapes. The panorama flying sites and skyscapes are shown in the Gallery section. To see all of them, click on the "See all" link at the top of the list.

  3. Will you be offering additional planes, locations, and helis in the future?

Yes! Be sure to check back soon for Add-Ons of additional planes, locations, and helis.

  4. Is there version available without a controller (transmitter)?

Yes. With the version of FS One that comes without the TacCon Controller, you can use any of today´s popular transmitters from JR, Hitec and Futaba. An Airtronics Adapter Cable is available separately.

System Requirements

  1. What are the system requirements?

    The minimum system requirements are:

Operating System: Windows XP or Windows 2000
Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium IV or AMD Athlon XP 2500
    Memory: 512 MB RAM
Hard Disk Drive Space Available: 4 GB
Video/Graphics: NVIDIA or ATI graphics card with 64 MB VRAM
NVIDIA: GeForce4 Ti, GeForce 5000-series (5200 or better)
ATI: Radeon 9000-series (9200 or better)

    The recommended system requirements are:

Operating System: Windows XP or Windows 2000
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium IV or better or AMD Athlon XP3000 or better
    Memory: 1 GB RAM
Hard Disk Drive Space Available: 4 GB
Video/Graphics: NVIDIA or ATI graphics card with at least 128 MB VRAM
NVIDIA: GeForce 6000-series or 7000-series (6600 or better)
ATI: Radeon X-series (X600 or better)

  2. Will there be a version for the Mac?

There are currently no plans to make a Macintosh version of FS One.

Physics

  1. I want my sim planes to feel and react just like the planes I fly at the field. Is this possible?

Absolutely. With FS One, you get incredibly advanced aerodynamic modeling that simulates every possible aspect of real-world flight. Post-stall, high angle of attack aerodynamic effects, tip stalls, spins, torque and gyroscopic effects, propwash, ground effect, wind, thermals, turbulence. FS One´s high-fidelity aerodynamics engine accurately models them all and how they affect whatever you fly.

Product Versions

  1. What is the difference between the three versions of FS One?

FS One with Mode 2 Controller(HANS2000): A Mode 2 TacCon Controller is included. Mode 2 means that right stick controls the elevator and aileron, and the left stick controls the throttle and rudder. Mode 2 is the most common and popular mode in the US. This is graphically shown here.

FS One with Mode 1 Controller (HANS1000): A Mode 1 TacCon Controller is included. Mode 1 means that right stick controls the throttle and aileron, and the left stick controls the elevator and rudder.

FS One without Controller (HANS3000): No Tac Controller is included. Any standard USB game controller is then used for joystick input, or a TacCon Controller can be later purchased separatly to work with this version. A standard transmitter or TacCon Controller is required to be connected to the FS One USB Interface in order for FS One to run.

Controllers

  1. What is a TacCon Controller?

FS One comes in two main versions - one that includes the FS One TacCon Controller and a version without the controller. For the version without the TacCon Controller, you must provide your own controller such as a transmitter or other USB joystick device, e.g. a Logitech joystick. The TacCon Controller, transmitter or other joystick input device is then used to fly the aircraft.

A second TacCon Controller (HANSTXV12, HANSTXV11) can be purchased for use in Two-Player mode that allows two people to fly FS One together. The second TacCon Controller requires a second FS One USB Interface (HANS3010) to connect it to the computer.

  2. What is the FS One USB Interface?

The FS One USB Interface is an adapter that allows the TacCon Controllers and several types of transmitters to be connected to your computer. The interface then appears as a USB game controller connected to your computer. The FS One USB Interface is included with all versions of FS One and is required to run the simulator. A standard transmitter or TacCon Controller is required to be connected to the FS One USB Interface in order for FS One to run.

A second FS One USB Interface (HANS3010) can be purchased for use in Two-Player mode that allows two people to fly FS One together.

  3. What is the Adaptor Cord?

FS One includes adapter cords for standard JR, Hitec and Futaba radios so that you can plug your transmitter into the FS One USB Interface. Adapter cords for other makes of radios are also available separately.

  4. I purchased FS One with a controller (HANS2000/HANS1000), now I´d like to be able to use my own radio. Is this possible?

Yes. The version of FS One that comes with the TacCon Controller comes with JR, Futaba and Hitec Transmitter Adapter Cables. This allows you the choice of flying with the FS One TacCon Controller or with your own JR, Futaba or Hitec Transmitter. An Airtronics Adapter Cable is available separately. You can then fly with your own transmitter setup (mixes, expos, rates, etc, or you can use the FS One Transmitter Editor to create a "software radio."

  5. Can the FS One Transmitter Editor be used with my JR, Futaba or Hitec Transmitter?

Yes. Whether you're using the FS One TacCon Controller or your own JR, Futaba or Hitec Transmitter, FS One´s extensive Transmitter Editor lets you simulate a huge number of features found with computer radios, e.g. mixes, expos, dual rates, and more. The effects on the aircraft can be seen immediately in the Transmitter Editor. You can also augment transmitter functions with your keyboard.

  6. I have a JR 10-channel radio. Will this work with FS One?

Today´s popular transmitters from JR, Hitec and Futaba will work with FS One. However, only the first 8 channels will function.

  7. I only have a 4-channel radio. Can I still use this in FS One?

Yes. With FS One you can use the 4-channels to drive the primary controls and then use the keyboard to control any remaining functions (e.g. airbrakes on the MiG-15). FS One includes example setups to get you going.

  8. I purchased FS One without a controller (HANS3000). Will I be able to use my Futaba and Hitec transmitter with this Software/USB Adapter Only version?

Yes. With the version of FS One that comes without the TacCon Controller (HANS3000), you can use any of today´s popular transmitters from JR, Hitec and Futaba (round only) with included adaptor cables. An Airtronics Adapter Cable (HANS3020) is available separately.
